We had the pleasure of sitting down with Cupidszn, one of the fast-rising voices shaping the new wave of Nigerian music. Known for his smooth delivery and versatility, Cupidszn carries himself with the quiet confidence of someone who understands the power of his sound and its impact. When asked to describe his sound, he didn’t hesitate. “It’s fluid, it flows like water”, he said, explaining further that his music is not only easy to connect with but also spiritual in a way that resonates deeply with listeners. This balance between relatability and depth is part of what makes his artistry stand out.

Cupidszn opened up about how the journey began in 2020 during the global lockdown. With boredom creeping in, he began posting freestyle videos on Instagram and TikTok. “I just wanted people to hear my music and to be recognized”, he recalled. That decision would set him on a path that quickly paid off. Speaking on one of his breakout moments, Cupidszn reflected on the success of “Ifeoma” his collaboration with renowned producer, Ozedikus. “That song went super viral, putting me in places I would never have gotten to this fast”, he said. Beyond the streaming numbers, the song gave him industry validation. “It solidified me as an artist and I got the recognition I wanted”.

Interestingly, not all of Cupidszn’s songs are drawn from his own life. Sometimes, inspiration comes from a friend’s experience or even a random story. This willingness to channel emotions and stories outside his own shows the versatility of his pen and his commitment to telling human stories through music. With his fluid sound and fearless storytelling, Cupidszn is carving a lane that feels both fresh and timeless.
