Dolapo Ogunlabi, widely known as Dolly Expressions, is one of Lagos’s most exciting emerging creatives. On Instagram, he calls himself “a self-taught independent multidisciplinary artist from Lagos, Nigeria,” and it’s no exaggeration. Dolly moves fluidly across mediums; from photography and painting to music, using each as a channel to tell stories and evoke emotion.

His versatility extends beyond the studio. Dolly was part of MAINS London’s Season 2 Lagos Street Casting, with creative direction and styling by Skepta. A collaboration that reflects his ability to shift seamlessly between visual art and modeling.

When we sat down for a laid-back conversation, he shared insights into his creative journey, the sparks that inspire him, and the stories behind some of his favourite works, breaking down the thought and process behind each piece.
